Well, we have had a chilly week in preschool! We headed to the arctic and had fun learning about the arctic animals and their habitats. We touched upon many, but mainly focused on our Polar Bear friend. Our class conducted a "cool" experiment to see how Polar bears keep warm in icy cold water. Since mother nature didn't cooperate with us earlier in the week, we had to make our own snow. It was a blast and really added to our arctic centers. The letter this week was "Rr". Thank you to all the families that helped with the "R" box. The letter "R" was well represented! :) Our friends enjoyed creating a life size polar bear paw and were amazed to see how it compared to their own foot. We ended our week with some more arctic centers, devouring a delicious chilly arctic snack and celebrating William's Birthday! Moving forward, next week we will talk about the antarctic and our penguin friends. Please note we will be celebrating Valentine's Day and our 100th day in February. Please revisit the two emails I sent out this am for more info. on a side note Cold and flu season are here and our wipe stash is depleted. If you feel inclined to donate some wipes we would greatly appreciate it. Stay healthy and enjoy these pics from this week! xoxoxo.

I have a dream that the Weebly will be updated!! ;) Well, just like Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream came true, so did this one! All joking aside... Alas... here are the way overdue pictures. This week we spent our time talking about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the changes that he instilled for all of us. Our letter for the week was "Kk" in honor of Dr. King. Thank you to all the wonderful families who assisted your little ones with our "K box". It is wonderful to listen to our preschoolers talk about how they can not believe how it was before the civil rights movement. We completed a neat lesson with a white egg and a brown egg. We observed the outsides (shells) and took predictions on what the insides would look like... we were astonished to see that they were the same inside!! I reminded our class that yes, the way we look on the outside is different and we should "own it" and be proud of what we look like, but it is so important to remember that we are all same inside. We are all people and deserve the same rights!!! Our class also enjoyed the story, "The Crayon Box That Talked", and after the story we completed a group painting of a heart. We realized that just a plain heart is beautiful but once we added all of our colors it was simply amazing and unique! The class came to realization that one color is not better than any and when all the colors come together they can create some unbelievable pieces of art! Our class did a wonderful job of presenting our MLK song at Chapel... It is not easy as adults to stand in front of a whole gym filled with peers, students and teachers and our class rocked it!! It was so heartwarming to see a preschool class signing about MLK and waving peace signs! If only preschoolers could lead the world... right?! ;) Thank you to Mrs. Jain and Mrs. Dippold for being our Guest Readers these last two weeks! The children absolutely adore this special treat. Please remember if you have not signed up you may do so on our "How Can I help" page. Next week we move into our Arctic unit. I hope you all have a peaceful weekend. I hear it is suppose to be 50 degrees, I hope you all get a chance to get out and enjoy some sunshine & warmer temps, :) xoxoxo |
