We finally made it to Antartica and found out that ice is nice (that is if you are a penguin)! We spent our week learning all about different penguins and learned mostly about the largest penguin the Emperor. We were so intrigued by them, we thought we would experiment and find out what it was like to be a Daddy Emperor (and "watch after" an egg). We realized it is not an easy job, and not easy to walk around with an egg either (we do have to give credit where credit is due)! ;) Next week we will prepare our selves for Valentine's Day! Love will hopefully be in the air! We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Tuesday with a special snack and on Wednesday with a small luncheon. If you signed up to donate an item (on our Google doc), please make sure all "goodies" are in on the morning of the 14th. All Valentines are due on the 14th as well( my T/TH friends can bring their's in on Tuesday). Please remember just have your child "sign their name (letter or scribble)", but there is no need to address their valentine's (this way our preschool friends may distribute their own Valentine's independently). I wanted to touch base with all of you, there was a miscount with our 100th day, so actually our 100th Day of school will be on Wednesday the 21st! So... all of our friends (including T/TH friends) are welcome to join us from 9:30am-10:30am for some 100th Day fun! If your child is a T/TH friend, please email me and let me know if your child is going to join us. Please continue to work on those 100th Day shirts. :) I think that is a wrap! Have an excellent weekend, I hear it might be a wet one. It could be a great weekend to catch up on sleep, and GET HEALTHY!! :) Please remember we go out daily so please provide your preschooler with appropriate Winter attire (coat, hat & mittens). Please enjoy these pics from this week, and I look forward to seeing all my little "loves" real soon! xoox

Well, we have had a chilly week in preschool! We headed to the arctic and had fun learning about the arctic animals and their habitats. We touched upon many, but mainly focused on our Polar Bear friend. Our class conducted a "cool" experiment to see how Polar bears keep warm in icy cold water. Since mother nature didn't cooperate with us earlier in the week, we had to make our own snow. It was a blast and really added to our arctic centers. The letter this week was "Rr". Thank you to all the families that helped with the "R" box. The letter "R" was well represented! :) Our friends enjoyed creating a life size polar bear paw and were amazed to see how it compared to their own foot. We ended our week with some more arctic centers, devouring a delicious chilly arctic snack and celebrating William's Birthday! Moving forward, next week we will talk about the antarctic and our penguin friends. Please note we will be celebrating Valentine's Day and our 100th day in February. Please revisit the two emails I sent out this am for more info. on a side note Cold and flu season are here and our wipe stash is depleted. If you feel inclined to donate some wipes we would greatly appreciate it. Stay healthy and enjoy these pics from this week! xoxoxo. I have a dream that the Weebly will be updated!! ;) Well, just like Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream came true, so did this one! All joking aside... Alas... here are the way overdue pictures. This week we spent our time talking about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the changes that he instilled for all of us. Our letter for the week was "Kk" in honor of Dr. King. Thank you to all the wonderful families who assisted your little ones with our "K box". It is wonderful to listen to our preschoolers talk about how they can not believe how it was before the civil rights movement. We completed a neat lesson with a white egg and a brown egg. We observed the outsides (shells) and took predictions on what the insides would look like... we were astonished to see that they were the same inside!! I reminded our class that yes, the way we look on the outside is different and we should "own it" and be proud of what we look like, but it is so important to remember that we are all same inside. We are all people and deserve the same rights!!! Our class also enjoyed the story, "The Crayon Box That Talked", and after the story we completed a group painting of a heart. We realized that just a plain heart is beautiful but once we added all of our colors it was simply amazing and unique! The class came to realization that one color is not better than any and when all the colors come together they can create some unbelievable pieces of art! Our class did a wonderful job of presenting our MLK song at Chapel... It is not easy as adults to stand in front of a whole gym filled with peers, students and teachers and our class rocked it!! It was so heartwarming to see a preschool class signing about MLK and waving peace signs! If only preschoolers could lead the world... right?! ;) Thank you to Mrs. Jain and Mrs. Dippold for being our Guest Readers these last two weeks! The children absolutely adore this special treat. Please remember if you have not signed up you may do so on our "How Can I help" page. Next week we move into our Arctic unit. I hope you all have a peaceful weekend. I hear it is suppose to be 50 degrees, I hope you all get a chance to get out and enjoy some sunshine & warmer temps, :) xoxoxo Tis the season to be jolly and CRAZY! ;) Hold on for the ride.. 9 and 1/2 days to go!
Our little elves were very busy this week. Unfortunately, we do not have pictures as they were hard at work preparing some Holiday gifts... and as the old saying states, "No peeking!".. :) Our Preschool-1st Grade concert is Friday the 8th @ 8:45am-9:15am with a small reception following. Our preschoolers will be animals and our costumes arrive Monday. I will be in touch Monday letting you know what your child needs to wear under their costume. Your child will either be an owl, sheep or cow. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we prepare for the concert. We will be performing at the All School Chapel on Thursday the 7th @ 9:45am as well. All are welcome. If your child does not attend school on T/Th we would still love for them to join us for the performance if possible. I do want to extend an invite to ALL of our Families and Preschoolers to join us on December 15th at 10:00am (- 11:00am) for Our Caroling/Cookie Exchange and some sweet treats. I have attached two google docs to our "How Can I Help" page. One document asks for you to sign up for the cookie of your choice (for our Cookie Exchange). Please refrain from signing up for duplicates. We ask that each family bakes 34 cookies and packages the cookies in pairs, for easy distribution on the morning of the 15th. We would love for our preschoolers to help in the baking of the cookies. Please take some pictures and send them our way (electronically is great). The pictures will be shared and displayed in our room. The second Document is a sign up sheet for some "goodies" on the 15th after our caroling. Our plan is to create some edible Christmas trees and to enjoy a sweet & salty snack alongside with hot chocolate... all to enhance our holiday mood! :) If you would like to donate please feel free to sign up. A friendly reminder that all students are dismissed on the 15th at noon. There is no Extended Care that day. I think that is it for now... We hope you all get a chance to slow down (find your zen) this weekend and enjoy some quality family time! Namaste xoxo Thankful are we!! We had a wonderful morning meeting all of our Special Friends this morning. It was so wonderful to see all the warm smiles and hear the laughter. We are finally back up and running.... so here we go, pull up a chair and get cozy and catch up on some "Preschool news"! We hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving! We look forward to seeing all of our Friends on Tuesday. Enjoy this time with your loved ones and remember we all have so much to be thankful for!! xoxoxo We made it, not sure what "shape" we are in... but that is a wrap! If our universe puts Halloween and a full moon in another full week of school... Oh boy... we are going to have it take a "deep breath" ;) What a week it has been! Onward we moved and learned all about our shapes. Travis Triangle, Sammy Square, Cindy Circle and Robbie Rectangle visited us this week. Our week was spent creating, sorting and building lots of different shapes.. Enjoy these pics from the week and please rest our tired friends. Next week it is all about dinosaurs! Please allow your child to pick one dinosaur from home to bring in to school on Monday (or Tuesday). Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo How sweet it was... a short week, but full of learning. We had a fabulous start to our week with our Fall Fest. Thank you to Mr. Fiori, Mrs. Rubino & Mrs. Ziegler for volunteering and donating your time with us. We couldn't have done it without you. Our first encounter with our buddies was on Wednesday and they helped us create our spooky spider hats. Fun was had by all. Thank you all so much for meeting with us during Parent/ Teacher Conferences. It was nice getting an opportunity to share with you all that your child has been up to thus far and to share what is yet to come. :) Please remember our goal is to make learning fun and to ignite ones curiosity on their path of being lifelong learners. If for some reason your child's attitude about school changes, please reach out to us immediately. Our field trip to Coleman's looks like it won't be happening. They could only reschedule us for mid- November... I think we have done a fine job of covering the lifecycle of the pumpkin in class and that we will save the money for a winter field trip instead. :) Please remember if you celebrate Halloween to email me some pics from Tuesday and your child can share them with the class on their next school day. Enjoy these pics from this week. xoxo Fire Safety was where it was at, in preschool this week. Job well done by all of our little Fire Chiefs. We should all be fire safety experts after our visit today from the Middletown Hose Company. Fire fighters Joe and Kelly were amazing and helped sum up all that we have learned all week. Your preschooler might have some questions for you, like what is their (your) address and not the clothes that you are wearing... LOL we had some confusion so we explained it is where your home is located (your street address) not your attire! ;)... They might ask you to check your smoke detectors, have a safety plan incase of a fire, and of course I am sure they would love to show you how and why they might need to stop, drop, cover and roll. :) Moving forward we have a short yet exciting week coming up. Monday is our Fall Fest from 11am-12pm. All friends are welcome, if it is not your child's scheduled school day. Your child may come for the fest, but must be accompanied by an adult and leave at 12pm. Due to our Fall Fest you will not need to pack a lunch, we will be making our own themed lunches. If you have signed up for an item on our google doc, please send in all items on Monday morning. We are still in need of 32.oz of shredded Mozzarella cheese. If you think you can donate the cheese please send an email to me. Tuesday is our Field trip to Coleman's Tree Farm. Please make sure your preschooler is dressed appropriately for pumpkin picking and has a brown bag lunch. If your child is riding the SAES van, please drop off their "seats" at the front Red Doors on Tuesday morning.Thursday and Friday April and I look forward to speaking with all of you during your scheduled Parent/ Teacher Conference. I think that is a wrap for now... Enjoy these pics from this week and have a super weekend! xoxox What a fun and perfect "P" week! Although we had a short week, we were passionate about our pumpkins and the letter "P"! Our pumpkin song, "Have You Ever Seen A Pumpkin" was a huge hit. We enjoyed learning about the letter "P" and had some wonderful tasting of some "P" objects. Our class pumpkin had seen better days, so we decided to open it up and discover what was inside.. "pulp" was had by all! Our pets were blessed, it doesn't get better than that! :) Our field trip to Coleman's was approved, so we are off to Coleman's Tree Farm on October 24th! Please send back the permission slip if you have not yet (It is coming home in backpacks today for some). We will be having our Fall fest on October 23rd from 11am -12pm All are welcome...more info will be coming shortly. Look for a google doc next week. I hope to see some of you tonight at our Fall Fest! Please don't forget to sign up for Parent /Teacher Conferences, if you have not. Have a peaceful weekend and I look forward to seeing all of my friends on Monday... It is our first full week in sometime. I know we've got this! ;) Enjoy these pics! |
